Children's Privacy Policy

1. Information Stored on Your Device

The app stores communicator names, boards, buttons, stories, custom photos, and settings locally. A communicator profile is a local app profile, not an online child account. Photos you select for buttons may include people; the app does not upload them to nanoGOAT.

Adults manage this content through the app. Backup and export files remain under your control. If you send a file to someone or save it with a storage provider, that recipient or provider may have access to its content. This is separate from nanoGOAT cloud sync, which the AAC app does not provide.

2. App Diagnostics and Downloads

We use Sentry for crash and error reporting in release builds configured for diagnostics. Reports may include app version, device and operating system information, error messages, stack traces, timestamps, and event or session identifiers. We use these reports to diagnose errors and maintain app reliability and security.

• Default personally identifiable information collection and screenshots are disabled.
• We do not set Sentry user profiles for AAC users.
• We do not intentionally send children's names, boards, photos, or spoken messages to Sentry.
• We do not use diagnostic identifiers for advertising, behavioral profiles, or tracking across services.
• The AAC app has no product analytics or advertising SDKs.

Content Package Downloads

Adults can add ready-made content packages, such as core words in another language, by scanning a QR code or tapping a link. A download sends no child information. The request carries the device's IP address, as any internet request does. We use it only to deliver the package and to keep the server running and secure, never to identify, contact, profile, or advertise to anyone. Server request logs are deleted automatically within 15 days. We count downloads per package and day, and those counts contain no identifiers.

Local storage of AAC content does not mean the app sends no diagnostic information. See the AAC Privacy Policyfor details about diagnostics and service providers.

3. Website Accounts and Support

Website accounts are for adults. Neither children nor adults need a website account to use the AAC app. Website authentication does not sign you in to the AAC app or give us access to its local content.

If you contact support or use a website account or waitlist, we receive the information you submit for that purpose. Please avoid sending a child's personal information or AAC content unless it is necessary for your request. Our AAC Privacy Policy explains how we handle voluntary submissions and website account information.

4. Parental Control and Consent

Parents and guardians manage children's use of the app. Editor Mode and caregiver lock settings help adults manage boards and settings. The app does not ask children to register an online account or submit an email address.

Creating a website account or a local communicator profile is not consent to upload a child's AAC content. We do not treat those actions as verifiable parental consent for online collection of children's personal information. If a future AAC feature requires such consent, we will provide the required notice and obtain consent before that collection begins.

We do not sell children's information or share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not show advertising to children or build behavioral profiles from their AAC use.

5. Access, Deletion, and Retention

You can review and edit local AAC content through the app. You can remove local content using app controls or your device's app-data controls. Manage any backup or export files separately. We do not hold a cloud copy of your AAC content and cannot remotely export, restore, change, or delete it for you.

Deleting a website account does not erase AAC content on your device. Uninstalling the AAC app does not delete a website account or copies of files you saved elsewhere.

Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information you have sent us, or to ask about further collection. We respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We retain diagnostics and voluntary submissions only as long as needed for the purposes described in the AAC Privacy Policy. Content server request logs are deleted within 15 days. There is no AAC cloud-account inactivity period or server deletion schedule for local boards and photos.

6. Security

Local data relies on your device's security features and the app locks you enable. Protect your device and any files you export. Diagnostic reports and content package downloads use encrypted connections. Sentry processes diagnostic reports for us; website service providers process information submitted through website and support workflows as described in our AAC Privacy Policy.

7. Changes to This Policy

We update this policy before introducing features that change how children's information is collected or used. We update the date on this page and provide required notices and obtain required parental consent before the relevant collection or use begins. We do not treat continued local app use as consent to new cloud features.

We do not retroactively apply less-protective practices to children's information collected under a more protective policy without obtaining new consent.
